Moxxi’s DIY Advent Calendar
1. Sweet Potato Chips
1 medium sweet potato, thinly sliced
¼ tsp citric acid
1 gallon of water (boiling)
ice water bath
Stir citric acid into boiling water. Add the sweet potato slices and blanch for 4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and dunk into an ice water bath. Drain well and dehydrate at 250°F for 6 hrs or until crispy.
2. Banana Coconut Chips
1 ripe banana
Shredded coconut (you can eyeball the amount)
Thinly slice the banana. Sprinkle the coconut on top of the slices and lightly press into the banana. Dehydrate at 250°F for 4-6 hrs or until very crispy. Store in an airtight container because they will soften up fast.
3. Peanut Butter Banana Balls
1 ripe banana (120g)
2 tbsp (30g) xylitol-free peanut butter
60g oat flour
Mash together the banana and peanut butter. Mix with oat flour. Roll into sticky balls. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until cooked through.
4. Blue Treats
1/4 cup (40g) sorghum flour
1/3 cup (40g) blueberries
1/4 cup (40g) purple sweet potato, mashed
Mash sweet potato with blueberries and flour until your dough has a play doh consistency. Roll thinly and cut into small treats. Bake at 350F for 20-30 minutes or until dry.
5. Blueberry Oat Bars
7.5 tbsp (60g ) oat flour
1 tbsp (7g ) ground flaxseed
100g mashed blueberries
Combine all ingredients. Roll out thin. Score. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 min.
6. Sweet Potato Skins
Skins from baked sweet potatoes
Air dry or dehydrate at 250°F for 2-3 hours.
7. Glow-in-the-dark Collar Charms
Styrofoam
Acetone
Fluorescent powder
Pigment or glitter (optional)
Silicone molds
Melt the styrofoam in acetone. Mix in the powders. Press into the molds. Let solidify for several hours to several days. Drill hole if needed.
8. Garfava treats
1 tbsp flax seeds
1/2 c whey
4 tbsp oat flour
1tbsp nutritional yeast
1/3 c garfava
Combine all ingredients. Spread onto a silicon mold with small holes for treats. Bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes or until very dry.
9. Paw Balm
1 part coconut oil
one part shea butter
2 parts waxes (1 candelilla, 1 soy)
A few drops of vitamin E (no more than 1% by weight)
Melt all ingredients in the microwave and mix well. Pour into a container and cool down.
10. Instant Bone Broth
Bones
Mushrooms
Carrots
Brown the bones, mushrooms, and carrots. Top with water. Add the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for as long as you can. Cool down to filter out the fat. Bring back to a simmer and reduce until you have a thick liquid. Transfer to a dehydrator until hard and brittle. Grind into a powder.

12. Popcorn
Corn kernels
A silicone sandwich bag
Pop the corn in the microwave using the sandwich bag. Shake every 30 seconds to prevent burning,
13. Crunch Bar
2 parts unsweetened carob bar
1 part popped amaranth
Melt the carob. Combine with amaranth.
Cool down until it hardens.
14. No-rinse shampoo
I used Wahl’s lavender shampoo

16. Pumpkin and Flax Cookies
60g pumpkin purée
1 tbsp flaxseed
40g oat flour
Mix, shape discs; bake 350°F 10-12 min.

22. Coconut Banana Chips
1 banana
1 tsp shredded coconut
Slice banana, sprinkle coconut; bake 250°C 2 hrs until crisp.
23. Peanut Oat Bones
60g oat flour
2 tbsp peanut butter (xylitol-free)
40ml water
Mix, roll, cut shapes; bake 350°F 10 min.
24. Festive Beef and Pumpkin Cake
100g lean ground beef
2 tbsp pumpkin purée
1 egg
1/2 cup oats
Mix, press into cupcake mold; bake 350°F 15 min; "frost" with sweet potato puree.
